Reunion®

GedSite has several rules for Reunion.

Witnesses and Roles

Reunion does not support witnesses or roles. GedSite assigns the role "Principal" to the person who owns an individual event, or to the husband and wife attached to a marriage or other family event.

Connections

Reunion has a Connection feature where links to people are inserted into text fields. When exported to GEDCOM, as explained in the Reunion help file, "Connections in note fields are exported independently of the actual note text." That means the link between the note and the connected person is lost. The link loses some specificity and becomes a link between the connected person and the individual to whom the note belongs.

Reunion Connections are exported using the GEDCOM ASSO record and its RELA subrecord. GedSite supports both records and converts them to Association events.

Those Association events have no date, or place. They have a principal (the INDI person under which the ASSO record appears), a witness, and a "Relation" memo part ([M:Relation]). Default sentences are provided by GedSite and work well for the records provided by Reunion. The user can override the sentences if desired via the Edit Tag Types... facility.

To separate the Association events from other events, you may add a Tag Set that selects only the Association events. The example below uses a manual sentence to show how that might be done as an alternative to editing the default sentence templates for the Association tag Type.

Places

GedSite handles Reunion's custom _PLAC records which are used to provide place details, including location coordinates.

Custom GEDCOM Tags

Events

Reunion uses the following non-standard GEDCOM tags for events. GedSite assigns them to the following event types. The third column of the table indicates whether GedSite includes pre-defined sentences for the Tag Type. If it does not, you have to add the Tag Type yourself.

Attributes

Reunion uses the following non-standard GEDCOM tags for attributes. GedSite assigns them the following attribute names. See the Attribute Person Entry item for instructions on how to include the attributes in the output.

GEDCOM Tag Attribute Name Note
INDI.ANCI Anc Int Ancestor interest
INDI.DESI Des Int Descendant interest

Custom Flags

Reunion supports custom flags and will export those flags to GEDCOM with a user-specified GEDCOM record. If you assign a name that begins with _F_, GedSite will use the GEDCOM record to create an attribute value.

For example, if you define a custom flag as follows:

Reunion will export the flag to GEDCOM as follows:

1 _F_JONES Y

GedSite will create an attribute for people who have been assigned the flag.
