GedSite Version 1.1.7 Released

This is a free upgrade with enhancements for exhibit handling, including the new Exhibit Gallery User Item. I recommend that all users upgrade to this version.

See the Change Log for other details.

New Exhibit-Related Features

Exhibit Gallery

The new Exhibit Gallery User Item creates a page (or pages) to hold a list of image exhibits. The list includes a thumbnail version of the image and the image caption. The exhibits can be filtered to create different sets of images.

Embed Position

This version includes a new property in the Exhibits Section, Embed Position. For exhibits attached to Tags (names and events), the Embed Position determines whether the exhibit is inserted before or after the text associated with the tag. The default value is "After text", and that produces the same results as prior versions of GedSite that did not have the Embed Position property. If you change the property to "Before text", the embedded exhibit will appear before the associated text.

Person Image Alignment

This version includes another new property in the Exhibits Section, Person Image Alignment. This separates person images from other images whose alignment is determined by the Other Image Alignment property, renamed from prior versions when it was named "Image Alignment".

Exhibit Properties

GedSite provides many properties related to exhibits. Some combinations of property settings may produce messy results, such as narratives with text interspersed with images in a haphazard manner. My recommendation is to avoid using a lot of embedded images when using the Narrative Format. If you use a structured Format, such as the Bullets Format (a list) or the Two Columns Format (a table), you will get reasonable results even when embedding many Tag exhibits. However, you may want to experiment with the Embed Position and the Image Alignment properties to determine the combination that you prefer.
