Overview

The Tag Filter Tab appears in all Tag Sets. It includes properties for filtering, i.e., selecting, tags for the Tag Set.

You may filter tags based on the Tag Type, the primary marker, and whether or not the person is attached to the tag as a principal or a witness. If no tags for a particular person pass the filters for a Tag Set, that Tag Set will not appear in the person entry for that person.

Event Filter

Example Event Filter

If Accept Events is checked, that enables the Event Filter property, a tree property where you add criteria terms to select a subset of events.

  • If Accept Events is unchecked, all events will be omitted.
  • If Accept Events is checked and the Event Filter is empty, all events will be selected.
  • If Accept Events is checked and the Event Filter is not empty, GedSite will include the events that pass the criteria terms in the Event Filter.

For more information about event criteria terms, see the Event Filter Terms section on the Filters help page.

  • If Accept Names is checked and the Name Filter is empty, all names will be selected except the subject's primary name which is always excluded and only appears at the top of the Person Entry.
  • If Accept Names is checked and the Name Filter is not empty, GedSite will include the names that pass the criteria terms in the Name Filter.

For more information about name criteria terms, see the Name Filter Terms section on the Filters help page.

Min Tags and Max Tags

You may suppress a Tag Set based on the number of tags that qualify for a particular person using the Min Tags and Max Tags properties. If the number of qualifying tags is less than the minimum or more than the maximum, the Tag Set will not be included in the person entry for that person.

"Exclude from" Properties

In most cases, users will want a tag to appear in a single group only. If a tag is selected for a Tag Set, you may use the "Exclude from" properties to prevent the tag from appearing in other groups. These properties make it easy to control whether or not a tag will appear in multiple groups without having to ensure that the tag selection filters are mutually exclusive.

Exclude from subsequent Body sets

When Exclude from subsequent Body sets is checked, any tag selected by the current Tag Set will not be eligible for any lower-priority Body Set.

Exclude from subsequent Panel sets

When Exclude from Subsequent Panel Sets is checked, any tag selected by the current Tag Set will not be eligible for any lower-priority Panel Set.
