Overview

The Tag Filter Tab appears in all Tag Sets. It includes properties for filtering, i.e., selecting, tags for the Tag Set.

You may filter tags based on the Tag Type, the primary marker, and whether or not the person is attached to the tag as a principal or a witness. If no tags for a particular person pass the filters for a Tag Set, that Tag Set will not appear in the person entry for that person.

Properties

Tag Type Controls

The Tag Filter Type pull-down menu chooses one of three approaches to selecting Tag Types:

  1. When Tag Filter Type is set to All, the Tags list controls are disabled and all Tag Types are selected.
  2. When Tag Filter Type is set to BMDB only, the Tags list controls are disabled and all Tag Types in the Birth, Marriage, Death, and Burial groups are selected.
  3. When Tag Filter Type is set to Selected, the Tags list controls are enabled and you may select individual Tag Types that appear in the list.

You may click the [All] button to select all Tag Types in the list, or the [None] button to deselect all Tag Types in the list.

Primary Tags

If you set the Primary Tags pull-down menu to Primary or Non-primary, then no filtering for primary / non-primary will apply: tags that are either primary or non-primary for the subject will be selected.

If you set Primary Tags to Primary only, then only tags that are primary for the subject will be selected.

If you set Primary Tags to Non-primary only, then only tags that are non-primary for the subject will be selected.

Witnessed Tags

If you set the Witnessed Tags pull-down menu to Both, then no filtering for principal / witness will apply: tags where the subject is either a principal or a witness will be selected.

If you set the Witnessed Tags pull-down menu to Principal only, then tags where the subject is a principal will be selected.

If you set the Witnessed Tags pull-down menu to Witness only, then tags where the subject is a witness will be selected.

Min Tags and Max Tags

You may suppress a Tag Set based on the number of tags that qualify for a particular person using the Min Tags and Max Tags properties. If the number of qualifying tags is less than the minimum or more than the maximum, the Tag Set will not be included in the person entry for that person.

"Exclude from" Properties

In most cases, users will want a tag to appear in a single group only. If a tag is selected for a Tag Set, you may use the "Exclude from" properties to prevent the tag from appearing in other groups. These properties make it easy to control whether or not a tag will appear in multiple groups without having to ensure that the tag selection filters are mutually exclusive.

Exclude from subsequent Body sets

When Exclude from subsequent Body sets is checked, any tag selected by the current Tag Set will not be eligible for any lower-priority Body Set.

Exclude from subsequent Panel sets

When Exclude from Subsequent Panel Sets is checked, any tag selected by the current Tag Set will not be eligible for any lower-priority Panel Set.
